Georgian numbersLevel A1 · რიცხვები

Numbers from one to a hundred. 11 to 19 are single words ending in -მეტი, a bit like English "-teen": თერთმეტი (11) is roughly "one on top of ten." Just learn these nine words as they are. From 20 on, Georgian counts in twenties, the way French does with quatre-vingts: ოცი (20) is the base, ორმოცი (40) is "two-twenty," სამოცი (60) "three-twenty," ოთხმოცი (80) "four-twenty." The tens in between (30, 50, 70, 90) add და ათი ("and ten") to the twenty before them: ოცდაათი (30) = "twenty and ten." A hundred is its own word, ასი. Say each word aloud, then cover the meanings and check yourself.
