Questions (A1)Georgian grammar · A1

ვინ / რა / სად / როდის / რატომ + verb + ?

The question word goes first

A question is built like a normal sentence, with the question word almost always at the start:

  • ვინ — who
  • რა — what
  • სად — where
  • როდის — when
  • რატომ — why

When "what" is the thing being done, რა usually becomes რას: რას აკეთებ? — "what are you doing?"

Questions without a question word

A yes/no question differs from a statement only in intonation. There's no "do" and no change in word order: ყავა გინდა? is literally "coffee you want?"
